Building Opportunity Through Relationships

A Provider Spotlight: Elizabeth F, PA C

Based in the New York and New Jersey area, Elizabeth F., PA-C, has built her first assist opportunities the same way she approaches the operating room: through consistency, trust, and strong professional relationships.

From Hospital Experience to Independent Opportunity

Liz works full time at NYU Orthopedic Hospital, where she has spent more than 6 years developing deep experience in the OR. Over time, that consistency and proficiency led to something more. Several surgeons she worked closely with went on to open a private practice and surgery center in New Jersey. Because of the trust she had built, she was a natural fit to assist there independently.

Rather than leaving her hospital role, Liz structured her first assist work as a side practice, leveraging the relationships she had carefully developed over years of collaboration.

“Through time and hard work, and becoming proficient in the OR, these opportunities developed,” she shared. “The surgeons depend on me. I know their steps, and that trust really matters.”

Navigating Credentialing and Setup

With guidance from Lou and Danny, Liz was able to navigate the credentialing process at the surgery center and get fully set up. While she handled her New Jersey licensing directly, All-Stars played a key role in connecting the right people, following up, and helping move the credentialing process forward.

Backend Support That Creates Freedom

Once operational, the biggest value for Liz has been the backend support. “Billing on your own is really complex,” she explained. “With a full time job, I can’t chase insurance companies. They make that process seamless.”

Since beginning her independent work in September, the additional income has provided meaningful flexibility. With a wedding coming up this year and a move on the horizon, her side practice has helped support both personal and professional growth.

A Sustainable Extension of Her Career

Liz’s story is a reminder that independent opportunity often begins with relationships. By investing in surgeon trust, staying clinically sharp, and surrounding herself with the right operational support, she has created a sustainable extension of her career without sacrificing stability.

Her advice to other surgical first assists considering a similar path is simple: build strong relationships, understand how your surgeons’ practices operate, and look for opportunities where trust and preparation intersect.
